Massive anti-Israel rally held in Cairo

Over one million Egyptian protesters staged a rally in Cairo's Liberation Square on April 8, 2011

Over one million Egyptian protesters in Cairo's Liberation square have demanded their military rulers to abandon Israel and lift the blockade on the besieged Gaza strip.

Protesters voiced their anger at Tel Aviv by burning the Israeli flag and demanding the Liberation of Palestine, a Press TV correspondent said. They promised to stand by Gazans, who have been suffering Israeli attacks and its four-year long crippling siege. Many protesters headed toward the US Embassy from Liberation Square to protest Israel's deadly attacks on Gaza. The Israeli flag was torn to pieces, when protesters tried to raise Palestinian flag above the Israeli embassy. The development comes two months after a historic revolution ousted President Hosni Mubarak.

Saudis want KSA troops out of Bahrain

An anti-government protest rally in Qatif

Hundreds of Saudi anti-government protesters have taken to the streets in the eastern part of the country to condemn the Kingdom's military intervention in Bahrain.

Waving Bahraini and Saudi flags, Shia protesters in the cities of Qatif and Awamiyah on Friday expressed solidarity with anti-government protesters in Bahrain and called for the immediate withdrawal of Saudi troops from Bahrain. Saudi Arabia sent 1,000 troops to Bahrain to help the ruling Al Khalifa family in its brutal crackdown on anti-government protesters. The peaceful Saudi protesters also called for political reforms and freedom of expression in the Kingdom. Both cities were besieged by Saudi troops following the anti-government demonstrations but there were no reports of clashes or arrests. Saudi Arabia's oil-producing east has been the scene of anti-government protests over the past weeks.

Over 500 activists detained in Bahrain
Leader of the Shia Haq movement Hassan Mushaimaa was arrested days after arriving in Bahrain from Britain.

The Bahraini Center for Human Rights (BCHR) has announced that the number of detained opposition activists in the Persian Gulf state has exceeded 500.

According to BCHR, 17 women are also among the detainees and 18 other activists are reportedly missing, a Press TV correspondent reported.Since the beginning of the uprising in Bahrain dozens of anti-government protesters have been killed and many others have gone missing. The bodies of the missing are frequently found days after.he head of BCHR, Nabeel Rajab, says now one in every 1,000 Bahraini is in detention for political reasons.Witnesses say regime forces are conducting house to house searches to detain opposition activists.Six opposition leaders have also been arrested and the Manama government has so far refused to provide any information on their fate.The opposition leaders, five Shia and one Sunni, were rounded up on March 17.

Four more protesters killed in Yemen

Yemeni security forces have attacked a protest rally in the southern city of Taiz, killing at least four anti-government protesters and injuring several others.

Witnesses said about 200 protesters were injured after security forces fired live bullets and teargas on anti-government demonstrators on Friday, a Press TV correspondent reported. Some of the injured are reported to be in critical condition. A nine-year old child is also among the injured, Xinhua news agency reported. Hospital officials in Taiz say regime forces are firing poisonous gas on protesters. The attack came as protesters were holding the funeral procession of five anti-government protesters killed earlier in the week in clashes with security forces. They were also calling for Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh to immediately step down. Similar anti-Saleh protest rallies were also held in other major Yemeni cities including the capital Sana'a Hodayda, Al-Bayda, Aden, Abyan, Ibb and Hadramout. Violence in Taiz came shortly after the embattled Yemeni president rejected an exit plan by the six-nation [Persian] Gulf Cooperation Council, which invited Saleh and the opposition to a mediation session in Saudi Arabia to end the months-long unrest in Yemen.
