The Appeals Chamber of the Criminal Courts Mechanism in The Hague (the heir to the Hague Tribunal) delivered the final sentence to the first President of the Republika Srpska Radovan Karadzic - life imprisonment.
The Appeals Chamber rejected all the complaints of the defense, rejected the complaint of the prosecutor's office on the erroneousness of Karadzic’s acquittal on the genocide charges in seven communities of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
At the same time, the Appeals Chamber considered that the sentence of 40 years of imprisonment does not correspond to the gravity of the crimes of Radovan Karadzic, this sentence is “unreasonable and unfair.”
In March 2016, the court session of the Hague Tribunal sentenced Karadzic to 40 years in prison for the Srebrenica genocide and crimes against humanity in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1992-1995.
In the original verdict, Karadzic was acquitted of one of the charges - the genocide against the non-Serb population in the communities of Bratunac, Prijedor, Vlasenica, Zvornik, Sanski Most, Focha and Kluchny. However, it was found that war crimes in these communities were coordinated by the leadership of the Republika Srpska. The judicial assembly also established that Karadzic was responsible for the crimes during the siege of Sarajevo and the taking of hostages.
The defense filed an appeal demanding the release of Karadzic or the trial anew, and the prosecution demanding life imprisonment.

From an interview with former CIA activist Robert Baer:
When Baer is asked if they are engaged in propaganda against the Serbs, he replies:
Yes and no. The purpose of the propaganda was to separate the republics so that they broke away from Yugoslavia. We had to choose a scapegoat who would be blamed for everything. Someone who will be responsible for the war and violence. Serbia was chosen because in some way it is the successor of Yugoslavia. How and when did you finish the operation and did she have a name? For me, it was over in two weeks, I got a new job in Slovenia. Otherwise, the operation lasted for several months and was called Pravda. Although it was anything but that! Can you name the politicians of the former Yugoslavia who were paid for by the CIA?
Yes, but it is delicate. Stipe Mesic, Franjo Tudjman, Aliya Izetbegovic, many advisers and members of the government in Yugoslavia were paid, and Serbian generals, journalists, etc. Radovan Karadzic was paid for some time, but he stopped taking money when he realized that he could be sacrificed and accused of crimes committed in Bosnia - which were organized by the US administration.
Srebrenica is an exaggerated story, and, unfortunately, many people are manipulated. The number of victims among the Serbs was not inferior to the number of victims among other nationalities, but Srebrenica is political marketing. My boss, who used to be a US senator, has repeatedly stressed that there will be some kind of scam in Bosnia. A month before the alleged genocide in Srebrenica, he told me that the city would be the main news all over the world, and ordered us to call the media. When I asked why, he said you would see. The new Bosnian army received orders to attack houses and civilians. These were, of course, the citizens of Srebrenica. At the same time, the Serbs attacked from the other side. Probably someone paid to incite them!
Then who is guilty of the Srebrenica genocide?
Srebrenica charges Bosnians, Serbs, Americans. But in fact, the Serbs were accused of everything. Unfortunately, many of the victims buried as Muslims were Serbs and other nationalities. A few years ago, a friend of mine, a former CIA agent and now working for the IMF, said that Srebrenica is a product of an agreement between the US government and politicians in Bosnia. According to Baer, the city of Srebrenica was sacrificed to give America a reason to attack the Serbs for their alleged crimes.
It was the "red line" of Bill Clinton.
Plus about the fake "concentration camp" in Srebrenica.
In August 1992, a horrible photo of a tortured prisoner standing behind barbed wire was spread all over the world. Everyone was convinced: the Serbs have concentration camps in which poor Bosnian Muslims languish. The man who was really sick to look at was called Fikret Alich. He was then 22 years old.
Independent Television News (ITN) foreign department editor Mike Jeremy later called the snapshot "one of the key images of the war in the former Yugoslavia."
Auschwitz, Dachau and Buchenwald came to mind. They recalled the Holocaust and the "final solution of the issue." The picture turned into evidence of the genocide that the Serbs allegedly staged. And it became an iron argument in the campaign to demonize them with loud demands for bombing and smashing.
The collection point at Trnopolje in northern Bosnia was created spontaneously when intercommunal clashes began here, near the town of Prijedor. Gaining momentum collective vendetta flywheel. An eye for an eye. Having received a weapon, people took revenge for burning their house, killing relatives or friends ...
Many of the runaway Muslims tried to find refuge in the school grounds in Trnopolje (here was a collection point). They hoped to avoid both meetings with Serbian militiamen and the forced recruitment of Bosnian Muslims into the army. That is, in fact, it was a refugee camp, where no one was killed or tortured, they were tolerably fed and were not forcibly held. Outside the assembly point, which the Serbs guarded against possible attacks, the refugees were much more dangerous. The camp consisted of the buildings of the former school and the local club.
It was here that British journalists smiled good luck twice. Next to the assembly point there was a platform about five hundred square meters, surrounded by a rabbit and barbed wire, where the equipment was previously stored. There were holes in the wire fence. The reporters, who were not obstructed by anyone, quietly penetrated there and took down the nearby Bosnian Muslims. Those just arrived at the camp and waited outside while they were registered, given food and shown where to sleep. One of the refugees, naked to the waist in the August heat, turned out to be very textured - and became a "star".
His exhaustion and dehydration is probably the result of some kind of illness. The photographs of Fikret Alich later spread around the world and terrified the inhabitants from the covers of magazines and newspaper pages. And the reporters received awards. A few days after this group of journalists, Paddy Ashdown, the leader of the British Liberal Democrats, visited the camp in Trnopolye. This politician did not sympathize with the Bosnian Serbs. On the contrary, he repeatedly called for British intervention in the conflict. Nevertheless, Ashdown’s impressions of the Trnopolye camp, described by the Independent on August 13, 1992, sound like a voice crying in the wilderness:
“They have gathered here because at least they need to go somewhere. Their homes are burned, their lives are at stake. Muslim extremists are forcing all men to go to the partisans, so they came here in search of security (...). ”
However, the dramatic images of Fikret Alich were the trump ace that beat any reasonable argument.
As the German reporter Thomas Deichmann noted, in the first days after the publication (August 6, 1992), the journalists who prepared it avoided calling Trnopolya a concentration camp. But after the pictures went around the whole world, this term was entered into a steady turn. And even hit the books. But most importantly, none of the reporters did not explain where the barbed wire came from.
After the publication of the pictures, loud calls for Bosnian Serbs to close the camps began to be heard everywhere. Sir John Thompson, the head of the OSCE commission in Bosnia, tried to warn the West against hasty conclusions: “It seems to me that if some camps are simply closed, many prisoners will not go far — graves will appear nearby.”
But international pressure on the Bosnian Serbs has already produced results. The camp at Omarska, which was also filmed by ITN, was closed in August 1992. Most of the people there were transferred to Trnopolje, which turned from a refugee camp into a staging post. On October 1, 1992, the first major convoy of the Red Cross departed from there, carrying refugees across the border, to Croatia, and then to Europe. Information fake healed his life.
In the United States, where the presidential campaign was in full swing in 1992, the Democratic Party tandem (Bill Clinton and Al Gore) used pictures to force President George W. Bush Sr. to launch a military operation against the Bosnian Serbs.
British Prime Minister John Major recalled his office from leave for an emergency meeting. It was soon announced that British troops would go to Bosnia. The photographs of Fikret Alich from Trnopolya later influenced the work of the International Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY) in The Hague. This tribunal has largely relied on the report of the commission of experts, in which in several places the barbed wire fence is mentioned in Trnopolje. The document, published in the summer of 1994, was controversial. But in annex V ("Report on Prijedor") it is unambiguously stated: "The camp was surrounded by barbed wire, and several guards monitored the prisoners."
After the end of the war, in 1997, a German journalist, Thomas Deichmann, published an investigation in the British edition of LM, entitled “The Picture that Fooled the World.” It all started with the fact that his wife, looking through the photos, noticed that the wire is attached on the other side of the fence. Affected her experience gardener.
The journalist arrived at the scene. He personally and meticulously, with German thoroughness, explored the territory of the camp. Daykhman made sure that the camp in Trnopolje was not fenced with barbed wire and people were not held there forcibly. British reporters found the only angle with a thorn and filmed people from behind the fence. Yes, Muslims are in the frame behind barbed wire, but ... outside. In the article, Deichman dotted all the i's. But the system with which he entered the fight, made a retaliatory move
None of the organizers of such provocations, operations under a false flag, etc., not to mention the organizers of the aggression against Yugoslavia, did not bear any responsibility.
As the State Department recently lucidly explained, the International Criminal Court will not be allowed to slander and investigate the war crimes of a "great nation."
Actually, this is all you need to know about the so-called "international justice", where the Serbs were made scapegoats. As Baer notes, the Serbs were simply appointed responsible for the war, which was completely unleashed.
